Principles

  1. 01

    Concentrated by design

One to two investments a year. Concentration forces discipline and leaves us the bandwidth to be useful and hands-on where required.

  2. 02

    Conviction first

Each year we develop two or three theses in areas with genuine tailwinds. Every investment is tested for the durability of its moats before we commit.

  3. 03

    Flexible capital solutions

We prefer significant minority stakes where governance is strong, but we are also open to majority and growth-buyout positions.

  4. 04

    Operators as much as investors

Board formation, M&A, interim C-suite, AI strategy, commercial strategy, cost optimisation and market expansion. Depth of involvement is set by what each business needs.

What we believe

Markets reward novelty loudly and durability quietly. Over a long enough period, the quiet one wins. Most of what we have learned as investors, across the United States, Europe and Asia, comes back to that observation, and NightArk is built around it.

Novelty is easy to find and easy to fund. Durability is harder to see. It sits in businesses that have compounded for years without much attention: profitable, cash-generative, run by people who know their customers well. These are the companies we want to own, and we would rather wait for the right one than own many of the wrong ones.

Approach

  1. 01

    Thesis

Two or three internal theses a year, in areas with real tailwinds.

  2. 02

    Durability

Every investment scored through a structured assessment of its true moats.

  3. 03

    Structure

Significant minority or majority, with governance that matches the risk, on a deal-by-deal basis.

  4. 04

    Partnership

Hands-on ownership alongside founders and management teams who think like owners.

  5. 05

    Exit

Every business must be able to compound independently or become a natural acquisition for a strategic.
